Lok Sabha election: NDA ahead, but BJP set to lose majority

The counting of votes for the 2024 Lok Sabha election is underway. As per the trends at 8.35 pm, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party was leading in 89 seats and had won 151. The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance was ahead in 292 seats.

The Congress was leading in 39 seats and had won 60, while the Opposition INDIA bloc as a whole was ahead in 232 constituencies.

Among the constituents of the INDIA bloc, the Samajwadi Party was leading in 14 seats and secured victory in 23, while the Aam Aadmi Party had won three seats in Punjab. The Jammu & Kashmir National Conference won the Srinagar and Anantnag-Rajouri seat.

The Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) was leading in six seats and secured victory in four, the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) was leading in six seats and won from Maharashtra’s Dindori, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) was leading in one seat and had won three.

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam was leading in 17 seats and had won five, the Trinamool Congress in 19 seats after winning 10 and the Rashtriya Janata Dal was ahead in four seats.
