Another underwhelming batting performance from Mumbai Indians icon Rohit Sharma has Indian cricket fans worried. While Mumbai's hopes of finishing among the top 4 teams are already over, Rohit's poor performances with the batter have fans worried about India's T20 World Cup 2024 campaign. Rohit, being the captain of the Indian team, is undroppable but his IPL form doesn't instill much confidence. After Rohit was dismissed for a knock of 24-ball 19, questions were raised over his position in the national team too. But, former cricketers remain divided over opinions on the Hitman.

Irfan Pathan, former India cricketer who is doing commentary duties in the IPL, admitted that Rohit and his MI teammate Hardik Pandya's form is a big worry for the Indian team.

"Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma's form is a big worry for Mumbai and Indians. You hope that they come back to form quickly," Irfan wrote on X.

Varun Aaron, former India pacer, doesn't think Rohit will face similar difficulties, that he is facing in Mumbai, when he plays for the Indian team.

"I don't think it's a big worry. Rohit can flip the switch at national duty, he holds it in very high regard. A player of his class, you can easily use the phrase form is temporary, class is permanent. He will find form, he doesn't have to worry. It's been a big worry for MI, and that's why they haven't qualified, because he's a big piece of their puzzle. It shouldn't be a problem for the Indian team," Aaron told ESPNCricinfo.

With only one league campaign left in the season, pressure is also being put on the Mumbai Indians management to rest marquee players like Rohit and Jasprit Bumrah.
