"Don't Have More Chances": Team Insider's Revelation After MI Got Thrashed

After three defeats on the bounce, Mumbai Indians (MI)'s IPL 2024 season finally got back on track last time out after win over the Delhi Capitals. MI have gone through a leadership change in the ongoing season with Hardik Pandya leading the side, replacing long-serving icon Rohit Sharma. However, with the results not going in their favour after three games, MI's campaign got the much needed boost, a 29-run win over the struggling Delhi Capitals last week.

Ahead of their game against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Thursday, explosive batter Tim David opened up on the mood inside the dressing room after losing the first three matches.

David admitted that there win over DC came as a huge relief as another defeat in the competition would've dented their playoff hopes.

"We have the squad to push through the finals and will be up there at the end. After three defeats, it's frustrating because everyone feels like they're trying their best. We sat down as a team and told ourselves it was time to challenge ourselves. We don't have any more chances here to keep playing below our best, so it was pleasing that we could come out with that performance and get the win. It's essential to start from here," David was quoted as saying by MI's website.

Just like MI, RCB too have problems of plenty, having lost four of their first five games.

However, David, a one-time RCB players, said that they are more focused on keeping up with the winning-run rather than their opponents.

"To be honest, we're most focused on ourselves. We didn't play our best cricket in the first three matches, and as we gain momentum, this team can go on a real winning run. We're looking forward to that happening, and it will be great to be a part of it," he added.

David also shared his views on compatriot and former MI teammaate Cameron Green, who was traded to MI ahead of the season.

Having went to the same school as kids, David suggested that he wants to get one over Green in one of the many interesting match-ups during Thursday's clash.

"I went to the same school as Cam, so it's obviously about bragging rights. You are playing against your mates, but they're the opposition. Yes, we played together a year ago. But people change their games and learn different skills, so you can't bank on that knowledge. It's all about playing the game out of the middle," he concluded.
