Updates: Rahul Gandhi detained during protest outside PM’s house, claims Congress

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was detained by the Delhi Police during a protest outside the prime minister’s house on Tuesday evening, his party claimed.

Gandhi, senior Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Mallikarjun Kharge, and other party workers were staging a protest, demanding the resignations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged mismanagement of competitive examinations.

The Congress alleged that the Delhi Police moved in to disperse the protest on Tuesday evening. “The police are being brutal with the MPs,” the party said in a social media post.

Vadra was mistreated and forced inside a police bus, Congress leader Pawar Khera claimed in a video.

Earlier in the day, Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh visited the protest site and spoke to the leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, ANI reported.
