Student leader Neha Bora and Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke have been detained. Bora was detained while participating in a flash protest by the All India Students’ Association near Barakhamba Road in central Delhi to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Dipke was detained when he was on his way to Connaught Place for the political campaign’s “Lehra Do Tiranga” demonstration scheduled for 5 pm. Protestors were to wave the national flag in central Delhi as a response to the arrest of Cockroach Janta Party leaders Ashutosh Ranka, Saurav Das and Ajinkya Shinde.

They had been arrested on Wednesday for trespassing after they entered the Jantar Mantar area that had been denotified as a protest site overnight and waved the national flag. While Ranka and Das remain in judicial custody, Shinde was released on a personal bond.

Protests against Kumar have been held in Delhi and other parts of the country since October 2 over concerns about the functioning of the Election Commission and its handling of the special intensive revision of electoral rolls. Read on.
