Red alert for Mumbai amid heavy rainfall, schools and colleges closed

Mumbai received heavy rainfall early on Monday, prompting the India Meteorological Department to issue a red alert for the city and its suburbs till Tuesday.
Residents have been advised to avoid stepping out unless necessary.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation announced that all schools and colleges in the city would be closed after noon on Monday.
Waterlogging was reported in several areas, slowing traffic on the Western Express Highway near Vile Parle and flooding Gandhi Market in Sion, ANI reported.
Other low-lying areas, such as Andheri Subway and Lokhandwala Complex, also saw water accumulation, disrupting traffic movement, according to PTI.
Suburban train services were delayed by 15 to 20 minutes.
Mumbai airport authorities issued an advisory, asking passengers to arrive early and check flight schedules with their respective airlines in view of the prevailing situation.

Yamuna crosses danger mark in Delhi
Meanwhile, the Yamuna river in Delhi crossed the danger mark of 205.33 metres on Monday, ANI reported.
According to flood control norms for the Yamuna, the warning level is 204.50 metres, the danger level is 205.33 metres and evacuations officially begin at 206 metres.
