Days after Pavitra Punia clarified that religion was not an "issue" in her breakup with TV star Eijaz Khan, his spokesperson issued a statement. The statement came as Eijaz's father has been receiving calls from friends inquiring if his son put pressures on Pavitra to convert to Islam.
The spokesperson stated, "Eijaz Khan belongs to a family where there are people from all religions. The actor, who has spent over three decades in the industry, celebrates all the festivals and all religions; that is very evident from his social media accounts. Such personal claims not only affect an actor's personal life, but they face professional setbacks too."
A few days back, Pavitra Punia opened up about what led to their breakup in an interview with Telly Masala. Pavitra, who fell in love with Eijaz on Bigg Boss 14, said, "But when a woman is sitting quietly like that, you will approach her with care because she is speaking to you gently. I tell this to every woman - if a man keeps suppressing you, he is a narcissist. Don't stay with him. In our case, it reached a point where we tried and tried, but it didn't work. How much could we keep trying?"
Too much masculinity and too much feminine side ka bahut bada role play kiya tha is relationship ne (This relationship played a big role in having too much masculinity and too much femininity on either side,)" she added.
Pavitra might have pointed out some personal traits of Eijaz Khan, which created a rift in their relationship, she also emphasized she didn't face the pressure of conversion. "In fact, my extended family was happy. Unko toh aisa lag raha tha ke inki toh industry aisi hai yahan jaat paat dekhte nahi hai. [They felt that in this industry, caste and religion don't matter.] I did tell him (Eijaz Khan) that l am not going to convert myself."
Speculation around the religion factor in Eijaz and Pavitra Punia's relationship emerged ever since they parted ways.
