‘BJP hooligans’ vandalised TMC office, alleges Abhishek Banerjee

A Trinamool Congress office in Kolkata was vandalised on Thursday morning. TMC General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee accused the supporters of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party of carrying out the attack.

Sharing videos of the ransacked Camac Street office on social media, Banerjee alleged that “BJP hooligans” armed with weapons had stormed the office at about 4.30 am. “They attacked our people, snatched their phones, smashed furniture, ransacked the premises and destroyed electronic equipment,” he wrote.

What happened at Camac Street this morning is a disgraceful assault on the rule of law.

One of the videos showed shards of glass, broken chairs, televisions and other equipment lying on the floor. The security camera footage of the office shared by Banerjee also showed masked men carrying away televisions and lockers.

The TMC leader called for Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari’s resignation.

“If this is how the Opposition is to be treated in West Bengal, through violence, vandalism and intimidation, then the chief minister has no moral authority to remain in office,” he said.
