RBI governor cautions against gold, home loan top-ups

RBI governor Shaktikanta Das cautioned banks against rapidly expanding personal loans by offering top-ups on existing home and gold loans. He highlighted concerns about non-compliance with regulatory limits and the risk of loans being used for speculative purposes. Das also noted that continued disconnect between loan and deposit growth could lead to structural liquidity issues for banks.
