Lufthansa fined $4 million for blocking 128 Jewish passengers in 2022
German airline Lufthansa faced a $4 million fine by the US government for denying boarding to 128 Orthodox Jewish passengers in 2022, citing alleged misbehavior. Lufthansa apologized, denying any discrimination, and has since partnered with the American Jewish Committee to develop an anti-discrimination training program for their staff. Lufthansa agreed to pay $2 million and the Department of Transportation said it will credit the airline with $2 million that it paid in compensation to passengers.
