The police in Maharashtra’s Latur have registered a first information report against Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the Cockroach Janta Party political campaign, for allegedly entering a government school without permission, threatening teachers and defaming the institution, reported PTI on Saturday.
The FIR was registered on a complaint filed by Sayyed Shamshadbano Khairatali, a teacher at a Zilla Parishad Urdu school. He alleged that Dipke had entered the school in the Jawali area near Ausa, sat among students and asked them several questions. This disrupted education and government work, alleged Khairatali.
Dipke had met the students as part of the political campaign’s nationwide drive to improve the condition of government schools. The Cockroach Janta Party has been sharing videos on social media recorded by its volunteers showing government schools functioning in poor condition in several states.
After visiting the school near Ausa, Dipke shared a video on social media in which students could purportedly be heard saying that they had been brought there from another institution.
In his complaint, Khairatali alleged that Dipke had defamed the school by claiming that students from another institution were made to sit in the classroom before his visit. He also alleged that the Cockroach Janta Party founder threatened to get the teachers suspended.
