Curfew is imposed in New Caledonia after unrest wracks French island territory in south Pacific
In response to violent unrest, New Caledonia enforced a curfew in Noumea, with security forces injured. Protests against voting reforms led to the disturbances, causing damage and arrests. No serious civilian casualties were reported, the high commissioner's statement said. The curfew in Noumea from 6 p.m local time Tuesday evening will last for at least 12 hours and could be extended if necessary, the high commissioner said.
