China eyes deeper ties with Maldives after Muizzu party's poll win

Following the victory of the pro-China ruling People's National Congress (PNC) in the parliamentary elections of the Maldives, Beijing expressed complete respect for the decision of the Maldivian people. China reiterated its commitment to enhancing the strategic partnership with the archipelago nation. President Mohamed Muizzu's party secured a super-majority in parliament with over 60 seats, which is interpreted as an affirmation of his foreign policy.
