Protesters in parts of Maharashtra and Goa faced police restrictions and detentions on Sunday while seeking the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the conduct of the special intensive revision of electoral rolls.

In Mumbai, the Cockroach Janta Party had called for a protest at 4 pm, but demonstrators were not allowed to assemble near Shivaji Park. Some were detained at Dadar station itself, while others were detained even for walking near the area.

The Mumbai Police also detained Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leaders and local protesters who were demonstrating outside Shiv Sena Bhawan. Uddhav Sena leader Aditya Thackeray climbed onto a police van in an attempt to stop it from taking away the protesters.

In Pune, about 80 to 100 protesters, including members of Left groups, were detained during a demonstration at Good Luck Chowk. A protester told Scroll over the phone that those detained were taken in police vans to Shivajinagar Police Station....
