Neha Bora, the president of the All India Students’ Association, was detained on Sunday while leading a protest march in Delhi.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) MP John Brittas was detained near Connaught Place. The party alleged that he was assaulted by the police. “He was later dropped by the roadside, visibly injured and in distress,” the party said.
Representatives of Left-affiliated student groups and the Cockroach Janta Party political campaign were also detained on Sunday.
In Mumbai, the Cockroach Janta Party had called for a protest at 4 pm, but demonstrators were not allowed to assemble near Shivaji Park and were being detained at Dadar station itself. Some were detained even for walking in the area.

The detentions came after the Cockroach Janta Party and Left groups had called for fresh protests in Delhi on Sunday, a day after thousands of protesters, Opposition leaders, activists, lawyers and journalists were held across the capital.
The demonstrations were organised to demand Kumar’s resignation over alleged irregularities in the special intensive revision of electoral rolls.
