A Delhi court on Sunday ordered the release of Cockroach Janta Party leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka on the condition that they do not breach the peace for one year, the campaign’s legal head Ratna Singh said.
The three were detained from an aircraft shortly after it landed in Delhi on Saturday ahead of protests demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation.
The Cockroach Janta Party political campaign and Left groups have called for fresh protests in Delhi on Sunday, a day after thousands of protesters, Opposition leaders, activists, lawyers and journalists were detained across the capital.
The campaign has also called for a protest in Mumbai at 4 pm.
The demonstrations were organised to demand Kumar’s resignation over alleged irregularities in the special intensive revision of electoral rolls.
