Rush Hour: Rahul Gandhi says goons sent to protesters’ homes, Zuckerberg asked to apologise and more

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi alleged that goons were being sent to the homes of young people who had taken part in the protests in July against the alleged mismanagement of competitive examinations. While the students had faced the media, Union Home Minister Amit Shah or Prime Minister Narendra Modi “do not have the courage to do so”, Gandhi said.

He was speaking at a press conference with protesters from New Delhi, Mumbai, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh. They included a 32-year-old woman who had been injured after pellet guns were fired at her on July 20. Another woman present had purportedly been struck by a police officer on her private parts.

Gandhi alleged that Shah was responsible for the violence against protesters. “Either he did not know that this violence was being carried, in which case he is incompetent,” he said. “And if he ordered the violence against the students, then he is culpable.” Read on.
