Rush Hour: Flight to Israel diverted after violence on board, Khalid and Imam denied bail and more

A flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv was diverted to Saudi Arabia after a “violent incident” involving its two pilots, Israeli officials said. Flight FZ1073 landed safely at Tabuk airport in northwestern Saudi Arabia, with all passengers accounted for, Flydubai airline said.

Both the captain and co-pilot were taken to hospital with injuries, the Tabuk airport operator said. It did not provide details about how they were injured and said that the incident was under investigation. Read on.

The Delhi High Court denied bail to activists Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam in the 2020 riots conspiracy case, registered under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. This is the third time the court has denied them bail. The trial in the case is yet to begin.

The High Court said that it was “bound by judicial discipline” and could not modify conditions imposed by the Supreme Court in its January 5 order concerning the two men.

The apex court had said that Imam and Khalid could renew their bail pleas after the examination of protected witnesses was completed or after one year, whichever came earlier. Read on.
