India expanded their medal tally at the 2024 Paris Paralympics to seven medals on Sunday.
Nishad Kumar won silver in the men’s high jump T47 event to become the eight Indian to win medals at two Paralympic Games. Kumar had also won silver at Tokyo 2020.
Preethi Pal became the third Indian after Joginder Singh Bedi and Avani Lekhara to win two medals at one Paralympic Games when she added the 200m T35 bronze medal to the 100m T35 bronze she had won earlier.
Currently, India are in 27th place with seven medals including one gold, two silver and four bronze.
Leading the overall medal tally is China with 71 medals – 33 gold, 27 silver and 11 bronze. In second place is Great Britain with 43 medals that include 23 gold, 12 silver and eight bronze. The USA have climbed to third place with 27 medals including eight gold, 11 silver and eight bronze medals.
