Opposition MPs on Thursday held a protest at Delhi’s Raj Ghat demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The legislators of the INDIA bloc travelled to the memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi after a lunch hosted by Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge. This was the second consecutive day of the alliance launching a surprise protest and the third day of holding demonstrations in the national capital.

On Wednesday, the Opposition MPs arrived near Jantar Mantar, a designated protest site, to carry out a demonstration. The police detained several leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. They were released hours later.

On Tuesday, the Opposition MPs marched from Parliament towards the Election Commission headquarters. The police stopped the march on Parliament Street and briefly detained several leaders.

After their release, Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders entered the Akashvani Bhawan premises, which is located near the Election Commission headquarters, and held a sit-in protest. They remained there for several hours before being detained again.

Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, was detained three times in less than two days.
