Nathan Gael Montelongo, a seventh-grader from La Joya, Texas, created a project using chitosan. Studies showed that chitosan improved water clarity and benefited zebrafish embryos in experiments. Nathan designed a prototype raft that could automate water quality monitoring and treatment.
