India's squad announcement for Champions Trophy 2025 Highlights: Team India announced the squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and the ODI series against England on Saturday, with captain Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar addressing a press conference. The biggest talking point came in the form of Shubman Gill being named as the vice-captain of the side. Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah was selected, with Agarkar expressing that further clarity on his fitness will be given in February. KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant were preferred as wicket-keepers over Sanju Samson for the 15-man squad, while Mohammed Siraj was another big name left out. Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Shami were also included, confirming successful recoveries from injury. Head coach Gautam Gambhir was not present in the press conference, having given his input in a discussion with Rohit and the selectors on Friday evening.
