FIRs against Tejashwi Yadav in Maharashtra, UP for allegedly derogatory posts about PM Modi

A first information report has been filed against Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh for making allegedly derogatory social media posts about Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On Friday, the Maharashtra Police registered an FIR against the former Bihar deputy chief minister for posting allegedly “highly offensive, false and defamatory” content about Modi on social media, reported The Indian Express.

The case was registered at a police station in Gadchiroli following a complaint by Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Milind Ramji Narote.

Narote, who represents the Gadchiroli constituency, said in his complaint that BJP workers told him about the posts by Yadav, in which he called the prime minister a “liar” and accused him of making false promises.

Narote said that one of the posts also included a song that claimed the prime minister “lies morning and evening”.

“This act is not merely against an individual but is an insult to the office of the prime minister of India and the honour of the nation,” Narote said on social media. “Such posts clearly aim to create confusion, discontent, and tension in society.”

The Shahjahanpur Police in Uttar Pradesh also registered an FIR against Yadav based on a complaint filed by BJP’s city unit chief Shilpi Gupta, PTI reported.
