Face-off with China continues at several locations along Arunachal border: ITBP chief

Confrontations between Indian and Chinese troops have been taking place at several locations along the Arunachal Pradesh border, The Hindu quoted Indo-Tibetan Border Police Director General Shatrujeet Singh Kapur as saying on Thursday.

“In the past few days, a situation arose where face-off happened at several locations in Arunachal and it still continues,” Kapur said at an event in Alwar, Rajasthan.

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police, a central force, guards the 3,488-km Line of Actual Control with China.

The force is stepping up preparations for modern warfare with drones, specialised commandos and new underground shelters, PTI quoted Kapur as further saying.

Reports of a stand-off between Indian and Chinese soldiers near Taksing in Arunachal Pradesh’s Upper Subansiri district emerged in July, with several confrontations reportedly taking place along the boundary.
