Cockroach Janata Party founder says Instagram account hacked, backup handle taken down

The Instagram account of the satirical political campaign Cockroach Janta Party was hacked, its creator Abhijit Dipke said on Saturday.
Dipke added that his personal Instagram account had also been hacked. Meta, the company that owns Instagram, had taken down the backup account of the social media campaign as well.

The X account of the campaign was withheld in India on Thursday. Hours later, Dipke said that the campaign had opened a new X account.
The campaign, which began on May 16, describes itself as a “political front of the youth, by the youth, for the youth”.
Dipke is a 30-year-old political communications strategist from Pune. He has a background in public relations and journalism, and was part of the Aam Aadmi Party’s social media team.
Since it was launched in response to reports of remarks by Chief Justice Surya Kant on May 15 comparing some unemployed youngsters to “cockroaches”, the campaign has garnered 21.7 million followers on Instagram.
