Attack on CJI BR Gavai has ‘angered every Indian’: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that the attack on Chief Justice BR Gavai inside the Supreme Court earlier in the day “angered every Indian”.
Earlier on Monday, a lawyer had attempted to throw an object at Gavai, accusing him of insulting Hinduism.
Commenting on the incident, Modi remarked in a social media post that there was no place for such “reprehensible acts” in society.
The prime minister also appreciated that Gavai remained calm despite the attempted attack, and said this showed his commitment to justice.

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi also said that the attempted attack on Gavai was an “assault on the dignity of our judiciary and the spirit of our Constitution”.
“Such hatred has no place in our nation and must be condemned,” the Congress leader said in a social media post.
