After touching low of 27% in 2022, share of freight transported by railways rises to 29%
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced a rise in rail freight share to 29%, aiming for 35% in six years. The government is investing heavily in rail infrastructure, anticipating freight demand to reach 8,000 million tonnes by 2032. The anti-collision system, Kavach, is being rapidly deployed across the network, with installation time drastically reduced.
