In 2001, six-month-old Kareena needed a liver transplant and was too sick to leave hospital. When US flights were grounded after 9/11, strangers and Tennessee National Guard members moved the donor liver nearly 800 miles from Nashville to Houston. Twenty-five years later, Kareena has graduated from college and is studying health policy in law school.
