The Opposition Mahagathbandhan in Bihar has promised a law guaranteeing one government job per family, and the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme in its manifesto for the Assembly election. The alliance – mainly comprising the Rashtriya Janata Dal, the Congress and three Left parties – has also promised to put the Waqf Amendment Act on hold.

In addition, the manifesto lists 25 key commitments, including 200 units of free electricity per household and monthly aid of Rs 2,500 for women.

The ruling National Democratic Alliance is expected to release its manifesto on Thursday.

The Election Commission has told Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor to respond to a report saying that he is enrolled as a voter in both West Bengal and Bihar. The Representation of the People Act states that a person cannot be registered in the electoral rolls for more than one constituency.
