A man was arrested for allegedly stalking and sexually harassing two Australian women cricketers in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore on Thursday, The Indian Express reported.

The players, part of the Australian team participating in the ICC Women’s World Cup, were staying at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Indore. The team had played against England at the Holkar Stadium in the city on Wednesday.

On Thursday morning, the two cricketers stepped out of the hotel to visit a cafe when a man on a motorcycle started following them, unidentified police officers told the newspaper. He allegedly touched one of them inappropriately before riding away.

The incident occurred in the Khajrana Road area.

A bystander had noted down the accused person’s motorcycle registration number, based on which, a man identified as Aqueel Khan was arrested, The Times of India reported.

Subsequently, Danny Simmons, the team’s security manager, filed a complaint with the police.

The manager told the police that he had received a live location notification at 11.08 am from one of the players indicating distress, The Indian Express reported. A few minutes later, the player called Simmons and said that a man on a motorcycle had tried to touch one of them.

The players resisted, after which the man allegedly fled, they reportedly told the manager.
