Pro-Russian 'sleeper agent' bots on X push US election misinformation: Study

Hundreds of pro-Russian bot accounts on X have been spreading misinformation about the US election and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, according to the American Sunlight Project. Some of these bots, active for up to 15 years, promote pro-Kremlin propaganda and support Donald Trump. Data restrictions after Elon Musk’s acquisition of X have made tracking these bots challenging.
