One cigarette butt and DNA match: How police decoded decades-old murder mystery
DNA evidence from a cigarette butt has led to the arrest of 65-year-old Kenneth Kundert for the 1980 rape and murder of Boeing instructor Dorothy Silzel in Kent, Washington. New forensic genealogy technology identified Kundert among potential suspects. He was apprehended following a joint effort with Arkansas authorities and will face charges upon extradition to Washington.
