Bharatiya Janata Party’s Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha won their constituency as votes in the Bihar Assembly elections were counted on Friday. They are the two deputy chief ministers in the state.
Choudhary won with a lead of over 45,000 votes, clinching more than 1.2 lakh votes in Tarapur. His Rashtriya Janata Dal rival Arun Kumar bagged 76,637 votes.
Sinha won the Lakhisarai seat with a margin of 24,940 against the Congress’ Amaresh Kumar
The Tarapur Assembly seat has been held by the Janata Dal (United) since 2010, and the current MLA is the party’s Rajiv Kumar Singh. Choudhary is currently a member of the Bihar Legislative Council.
Sinha has represented the Lakhisarai constituency since 2010.
He was the leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly from August 2022 to January 2024, and earlier served as the speaker from November 2020 to August 2022.

The Bharatiya Janata Party is contesting the Bihar election as part of the National Democratic Alliance.
